Fragments

An experimental short film exploring memory through abstraction.

"Fragments" is a deeply personal experimental short that examines the nature of memory and emotional distortion over time. The film follows a loosely defined protagonist navigating disjointed moments from their past, visualized as layered textures, glitched imagery, and abstract transitions. There’s no traditional narrative or dialogue—just fleeting impressions, colored by mood, memory, and subjective perception.

The visual structure of the film intentionally avoids linear progression, opting instead for thematic pacing and associative montage. Shots bleed into each other; silence is broken by sharp audio cuts or distant sounds. The color palette was carefully crafted to evolve from warm and intimate to cold and sterile, reflecting the emotional trajectory of remembering, forgetting, and reframing. Every element—visual or auditory—serves to immerse the viewer in a subjective psychological state.

This project was a deliberate exploration of the line between narrative and feeling. It sharpened my editorial instincts, pushed me creatively in motion graphics and transitions, and taught me how to guide emotion with rhythm and visual metaphor. It’s a piece I return to often when exploring how mood can transcend plot.

Skills Demonstrated:

  • Non-linear editing and experimental storytelling

  • Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects for visual layering

  • Symbolic sound design using Adobe Audition

  • Emotional pacing without dialogue
